Wow, I can't believe that Darling Girl will be 2 years old this year! 2011 was a crazy good year and I foresee 2012 being a phenomenal year for us too.
Darling Girl's goal for 2012 is to streamline as many processes as possible in the hopes of getting the turn around time back to at the most 6 -10 business days rather than the usual 14 - 16 business days. Sales really grew over the last six months and it has been really hard keeping up with demand.
Some things that will be changing in 2012 will be limiting the custom options. I will always have 2 options for lip products because I have several ladies that use my alternate formula and for a few it's the only lip products they can use so I would never take that away. However, the alternate formula for the tinted balms will now be the Luscious Lip Balm formula.
All changes will be in effect as of January 20th, 8:00am CST.
- There will no longer be customer choice options for SALVation or Lotion Bars. I will have a few select fragrances and will rotate scents every few months as well as having some seasonal scents.
- Full size Lotion bars are getting discontinued, but I will keep on the mini's. I think I have a line on some jumbo lip balm tubes so I may change to those for the lotion bars at some point.
- Full size SALVation will be discontinued as well. Mini's will stay until I find an in between size.
- The biggest change is that I am going to discontinue the entire line of tinted lip balms. The Kiss Me Tinted Lip Balm and the Kiss You Off Color Rich Lip Balms. The reason for this is that many of the formula's were geared towards really small batches and I am having too much variation in batches when trying to quadruple batches. Don't panic! I already have several new shades that will be ready to make their debut and there will be a few colors that I try and duplicate but they may not be exact matches for your favorites. *Edited to add: Color will be available until January 20th or they sell out which ever comes first.
I will also be introducing a new growing collection "Darling Grrl!" This is a music themed collection mostly reminiscent of my past love of all things Punk Rock. This idea was born in an awesome Facebook group I am involved in and went from just kind of talking about music we use to listen to, to 'how cool would it be to have eye shadows inspired by our favorite songs?' The collection will start with 6 - 8 shades and every month I will add 2 shades to the 'Darling Grrl Hall of Fame' Fun, right? If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. :)
Anyway, I think that is if for now. Thanks so much for you support. I <3 you all so much!

The formula of the balms will be the same. There will just be all new colors. Some favorites will be getting reformulated and honestly I think they will be better and more pigmented!
ReplyDelete@ryou Who Spiked the Punch is going to be getting reformulated but not sure when it will be available again.
ReplyDeleteThe shelf life is about 9-12 months. I have some that I've had since started Darling Girl 1 1/2 ago and they are still good so that is just a general guideline.
@Superradioative Girl I thought this was an awesome idea too. So glad that Mandy mentioned it. ;D
Can't wait to see what you do in 2012! I love the balms but understand that formulation is really important.
ReplyDelete@Susan if they're gonna be more pigmented then yay! I thought you wanted to keep just the sheer ones ;)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how the Darling Grrl will develop, I just love music (usually tend to do music inspired make up looks) so hope U2 and Depeche Mode will have some place in there!
Please find a way to keep the sangria color somehow...I loooooooove it! Good luck to you in the new year and looking forward to what's in store!
ReplyDelete@Susan: I can wait if that means I can get my beloved WStP when I'm out, I probably wouldn't need a new one in a few months anyway...
ReplyDeleteJust a suggestion though, it might be helpful for us if you post a list of shades you're thinking of reformulating, so we know if we need a dozen of a shade or not.
@Ryou - Good idea! I will post a list of shades that I plan on reformulating.
ReplyDeleteHi S! Wow 2 years sure zoomed by, didn't they?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're making some changes, I think it'll be really healthy for the shop and YOU. You need more me-time, you've been working far too hard!
Take care
xoxo
Can you please post the list that will be reformulated? I need to know how many Sweet Dreams I need to order.
